Have your say on London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)

With the recent announcement of the introduction of the ULEZ in the central London congestion charging zone beginning 8 April 2019, approximately 17 months earlier than the original start date of 7 September 2020, the Mayor has opened a further consultation on the proposals to improve air quality.

The Mayor is also proposing to expand the ULEZ across Greater London for larger vehicles in 2020, and up to the North and South Circular roads for cars and vans in 2021.

Other proposals are for the required ULEZ emission standard for diesel vehicles to include particulate matter (PM) to align with national standards. Find further details and comment on these proposals on the Transport for London website.

The ULEZ would replace the £10 T-Charge, which is due to start in October this year. The ULEZ daily fee to drive in the zone will apply 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to vehicles that do not meet the following standard: Petrol Euro 4/ IV; Diesel Euro 6/ VI and Powered Two Wheelers Euro 3.

The charges will be £12.50 for cars, vans and motorbikes, and £100 for heavy vehicles such as HGVs and coaches and will be in addition to the Congestion Charge (where applicable).
