Autogas opens first LPG facility on M25

Autogas has opened the very first LPG refuelling facilities anywhere on the M25 at Shell Cobham, the UK’s largest petrol station that commenced trading last week. The new site can cater for both clockwise and anti-clockwise traffic thanks to its own dedicated motorway junction and is conveniently located midway between Heathrow and Gatwick. “For LPG drivers travelling on the M25, the new Shell Cobham site will make life a lot easier as they now have access to an Autogas refuelling facility directly from the motorway itself,” said Paul Oxford, business development, Autogas. “It’s also in a great location, as there is currently a gap of 63 miles between existing services on the road, so while filling up with the cheaper fuel they can also enjoy the other fantastic amenities.” The LPG refuelling installation at the site will be among the most active in the…

Contract renewal apathy costing fleets dear

An emerging trend to let company car contracts “slide” past their renewal date is a false economy that will often cost more than opting for a new vehicle, says GE Capital’s Fleet Services division. The company reports that, like most lessors in the fleet sector, it is seeing an increase in requests from customers who want to lengthen their leases informally, although stresses that this is different from the last wave of contract renewals that occurred during the credit crunch. Gary Killeen, Fleet Services Commercial Leader for GE Capital UK, said: ‘This is dissimilar to the contract extensions that occurred during the 2008 recession. Then, companies were battening down the hatches in response to an economic storm. The “renewal apathy” that we are seeing now is a milder form of caution prompted by much milder economic uncertainty. ‘However, this tendency to let a renewal…

New Golf 7 launched

The all-new Volkswagen Golf has been unveiled in front of thousands at a special ceremony Berlin, 36 years after the original model redefined the small family car.    The seventh generation Golf builds on the success of its predecessors, of which over 29 million have been sold, bringing new levels of comfort, practicality, safety and efficiency to the class.    Despite offering more room for passengers and more advanced technological features than ever before, new production techniques contribute to the Mk VII Golf being up to 100 kg lighter than the car it replaces, helping to make it up to 23 per cent more efficient than before. On top of this, the new Golf is also safer than ever, thanks not just to a stronger body structure (which is also 23 kg lighter) but also to a raft of standard and optional passive and active safety systems….
